Current Events: 1/31/2010

Here are the current events for this week. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Restoring films from almost 100 years ago is no easy task. Here is an article about old Charlie Chaplin films.

The Cultural Experience Club is going to see In the Heights on Tuesday. This is an interesting article about the production.

Lost premiers this week. I am a huge fan of the show-- and it is worth seeing. Here is an interesting article about the upcoming season.

Although not a viewer of the TV hit series "Lost," I have heard many positive and negative things. The main "pro" that seems to come up the most is how the audiences mind is always deceived. Something always tends to happen that was unexpected by most people. In contrast, I have also heard, and agree from parts I've seen, that the show is very far-fetched. Some may say that's what makes the show fun to watch but seriously, the events that occur are sometimes ridiculous. But that is what Americans want. So many people love the far-fetched action and drama that occurs in that show and many others. Therefore, I assume that having another show like that will only boost the viewer number.

I'm not saying that "Lost" is terrible but I'm also not saying that I would ever spend my time watching it. I know it is extremely popular and I'm impressed with the extreme creativity put into it. Some of the plots and occurrences are brilliant and create an excellent episode leaving the audience begging for more and yearning for the next episode to come as quickly as possible. To sum it all up, I'm sure that this season of "Lost" will be extremely successful with a large amount of viewers...but I will not be one of them.

I am personally never been a fan of a musical or play type of entertainment. "In The Heights", however sounds like it could be quite interesting. The whole story line behind makes the play seem very interesting at first glance. This is a type of subject that is still happening today. This is a problem that could catch more attention because of "In The Heights". This also seems to be a feel good story which is always entertaining.

Another interesting factor about this is that their is performer in it that is native of CMU. That may make locals feel more of a connection they go to see this performance. This play also looks interesting because it targets the youth. From what I have read this play also seems very similar to the ABC Family show "Lincoln Heights " which is a very influential and entertaining show.

As a big time viewer of the TV hit series "Lost", I cant wait until Tuesday to finally see the final season opener. I am a huge fan of the show. Every episode is another adventure because of the amazing writers. Since day one of the show's opener I have been lost, literally. This show, unless you pay attention is confusing to most viewers. Scenes skip to one episode to another and flashbacks happen almost every other episode.

I love how "Lost" is very well put together. The characters in Lost are just phenomenal. Sadly this is the last season, but I know its gonna be great! "Lost" has a very large amount of viewers and I am one of them. I have no clue what will get thrown down in the final season. "Lost" is a very successful TV series. Tuesday at 9:00pm, you no where I'm going to be.

Ive never really been a big fan of the show. And i really dont know what it is about. It think people fall in love with this drama because of the unexpected situations. If another show like this is made im sure the will be just or as many more viewers.

The season premier is coming up but I am not watching it. Ive seen the show a few times but never got into like other dramas i watch. I do like how its unusual and suspenseful but it never got my attention.

Tell you the truth, I have never seen the show lost. I have know clue what it is about and have no desire to watch it. The thing the confuses me is why they would kill some of the main characters. They said they will add actors to the list, but how will you know if the audience likes them?

I hope the producers come upp with an ending. I think its funny how this show is "supposed" to be popular but they dont have an ending. That makes me wonder if they can even come up with one. The final needs to be the best show at this point not so much.

I was very into the show lost during the first season. IT WAS A GOOD SHOW TO WATCH BEFORE BED AND IT ALWAYS KEPT ME ASKING FOR MORE. IT WAS REALLY NEAT HOW THEYY ALL WERE VERY DIFFERENT AND HAD VER DIFFERENT LIVES AND A PLANE ACCIDENT BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER. I THOUGHT THAT THE FLASHBACKS SOMETIMES MADE IT HARD TO FOLLOW BUT AT THE SAME TIME REALLY INTERESTING.

I STOPED WATCHING LOST AFTER THE BEGINGING OF THE SECOND SEASON. IT STARTED TO GET A LITTLE ODD AND THE TIME CHANGED ON WHAT TIME IT AIRED SO IT MADE IT HARDER TO WATCH. IM HAPPY TO SEE THAT THE SHOW IS FINALLY COMING TO AN END. IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE THEY BEEN ON THAT ISLAND. KNOWING THEY ARE FINALLY GETTING OF THE ISLAND MIGHT MAKE ME WATCH IT.

I have never watched the show "Lost" but ive seen previews every five minutes for it these past couple weeks and think it looks kinda stupid and pretty corny. It seems like its dragging on way to far. It should ended a couple years back it feels like, because i remeber being in grade school hearing about this show. The show must have a pretty exciting story line because so many people love it, i guess i MIGHT have to give it a chance and watch it one night, because u can't judge it by its previews. Even though I've never followed a TV series other than ones on MTV, i think lost would be one of the last ones i wanna watch. As Claney said it seems pretty far fetched.

The very dramatic story line and the many different things that go on seem to make this show a hit. The show does have the perfect setting for a TV show, lots of characters on an abandoned island, so therefore, many sectrective things can go on between characters. Right now i think im making the show sound better to myself than it actually is. I gotta stop.

i watched the first season of lost and maybe some of the second and third. Really its all quite a blur to me. the show is to hard to follow, even if you miss the first 10 minutes of an episode you cant watch the rest. Also no one likes a show when your favorite characters get killed or when a character you like gets 'stabbed in the back.'
The show lost doesnt even have an ending and thats why i stopped watching. i couldnt stand watching the show and as soon as i got a grip on what it was about it would all change. Lost would make a better movie series than tv series. just watching an hour the having to go 52 more hours without it is way to complicated.

Mr. Cullen,

Just curious and hoping to possibly earn a few bonus points, I have been researching the Super Bowl commercials. I have actually learned a lot about advertising as it is all VERY interesting! I thought that I would show you a site that i really liked that gives you on the inside on the upcoming commercials.

I saw the musical In The Heights when curtural expierience went to New York City. I thought it was an
amazing musical.

I was engaged the entire time. It was so funny too. The music was great and so was the choreography. I really enjoyed In The Hieghts and would recomend it to everyone.
